Dr. Kate Borromeo

Biography

Dr. Kate Borromeo brings a unique perspective to podiatric care. Having navigated her own foot injuries and surgeries, she understands how discouraging it can be when pain limits your mobility or keeps you from the activities you enjoy. This personal experience shapes her patient‑centered approach to care.

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Dr. Borromeo earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Science, Technology & Society from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She went on to complete her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Borromeo received comprehensive clinical and surgical training during her residency at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, with a focus on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and diabetic limb preservation. During her time in residency, she also served as the Medical Director for foot care clinics at local homeless shelters, which deepened her commitment to compassionate, respectful care for every patient.

Before joining Island Foot Clinics, Dr. Borromeo practiced in central California, where she cared for a high‑volume, diverse patient population, treating both outpatient and inpatient cases across multiple facilities. Her work included advanced limb‑salvage procedures, innovative surgical techniques, and the full spectrum of foot and ankle pathology, from common concerns to complex, limb‑threatening conditions. This experience strengthened her surgical expertise and reinforced her dedication to providing efficient, effective, and empathetic care in various settings.

Now based in Kelowna, Dr. Borromeo is excited to serve the Okanagan community and build lasting relationships with patients and providers. Outside of work, she enjoys spending more time outdoors and exploring everything the region has to offer.
